PRODUCTS I'M LOVING THIS WINTER

Winter is always a great time of the year for me. I love the fashion and styling that comes with this season and I find that it is easier to layer up and keep warm than it is to strip down and cool off , so yes, I could trade summer’s heat for winter’s chill, anytime. Unfortunately, winter doesn’t always love me back; I have to switch up my beauty routine to survive the harsh conditions that arrive with the season.

I have combination skin on my face, which means that my T-zone is relatively oily while the rest of my face and body has normal to dry skin- during winter the T-zone becomes more normal while everything else gets drier so I have to use a lot of hydrating and moisturising products to keep a good balance.
Tissue Oils
I always choose nourishing oils and products with a good supply of vitamins. My favourite tissue or body oils to use are the Justine Tissue Oil and Bio-Oil. Justine’s Tissue Oil is slightly thicker than Bio-Oil and has a blend of wheatgerm and sweet almond oil, which is a great emollient (softens skin etc). Both oils are rich in vitamins A, E and F. I use them on my face at night (Bio-Oil in the morning before moisturiser) and also as cuticle oil.
Scrubs
It’s always good to exfoliate your skin to help it renew itself during winter and to clear off dry patches, so I use Justine’s Honey Herbal exfoliating sugar scrub on my hands and the goodearth Shea Butter exfoliating body scrub. Shea butter, honey, sugar…my skin has no reason to complain!
Body Moisturisers
My daily moisturiser is the creamy Nivea Rich Nourishing body lotion which also has its own lovely supply of almond oil, and the Happy Event Antenatal Massage lotion. I love love this lotion! It smells heavenly and feels so luxurious and although I’m not pregnant (or planning to be) I definitely will keep repurchasing it and absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves soft, smooth and pampered skin. My facial moisturiser is Neutrogena’s Visibly Even Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30. People tend to forget their sun lotion in winter so I’m glad that I can nourish and protect in one application. Another great nourishing product is Eurecin’s Aquaphor soothing skin balm which is smiliar to Vaseline, but creamier and non-comedogenic, so if you have extremely dry skin, you can use it one your face and it won’t clog your pores.
Facial Moisturisers
Facial Cleaners
To cleanse my face I alternate between Neutrogena’s Visibly Even Foaming Cleanser, Simple’s Purifying Cleansing Lotion and Moisturising Facial Wash. All these cleansers are so gentle and moisturising and I appreciate that the Simple products are fragrance-free; that nice-smelling alcohol-based fragrance we often want in products is actually very dehydrating to the skin.
Body Wash
In addition to using scrubs to keep my skin soft and smooth, I have a cute pair of exfoliating gloves which I use with the Lux Beauty Body Wash in Sheer Twilight*- this body wash has such an enchanting and luxurious fragrance and is surprisingly moisturising (review here).
Hair Care
I had a weave on for the most part of this winter so to keep my hair refreshed and clean I use the TRESemmé Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo and to keep it moisturised I’ve sought out the non-greasy and light-weight ORS Olive Oil Nourishing Sheen Spray, which has a rich blend of olive oil, vitamin E and herbal extracts.
Lip Care
No one likes cracked or crusty-looking lips during winter so I’ve kept mine looking good with Labello’s Vitamin Shake lip balm and the Lip-Ice Intensive Recovery Balm which has SPF 30 and a lovely glossy finish.

I know this has been a load and a half to read, but I hope that you’ve been introduced to few new products to try out during this winter.

Which products have you been loving lately? Leave a link if you have blogged about them; would love to check them out.

Much love,
