I recently saw this 'Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty' tag on
Odette's blog, O So Inspired, and thought it would be fun to participate.
The tag is loosely based on the seven deadly sins
interpreted by some religious communities as greed (excess), wrath (anger/
hate), gluttony (overindulgence to the point of wastefulness), sloth
(laziness), pride, lust (sexual desire) and envy (covert). This is a
light-hearted tag that's not meant to offend anyone, so please take it as is.
1. GREED: What is your most inexpensive beauty item? What is
your most expensive?
My LA Girl lipliners are probably the least expensive
products that I have right now. I got them from Dischem and they were about R20
each. I bought 5 because I truly believe that they are excellent MAC lipliner dupes
and who doesn't love a good MAC dupe?!
Least expensive to Most expensive |
I have a couple of designer fragrances but the product that made me sit down and re-evaluate my priorities and morals was...and I’m even ashamed to say it,
a nail polish. Okay technically it’s an OPI nail treatment…THE much talked
about OPI Nail Envy maintenance treatment to be exact. It retailed at R325 from
Stuttafords. CRINGE! I have horribly
weak nails and having tried all kinds of pills and cuticle oils and serums, I
decided, after much research and deliberation, to purchase the treatment. I
thought it was priced around R200 only to gasp in horror when I looked at the till slip. So basically I handle that treatment like gold (literally) and although it's proven to be worth the price,
I’ll probably never purchase it again just because it’s so damn pricey. Can anyone suggest an affordable, good
quality nail treatment?
2. WRATH: What beauty products do you have a love/hate
relationship with?
Mascara and liquid eyeliners! If you have short, tightly curled eyelashes like I do, you’ll know the
struggle of finding good quality mascara with a small enough mascara wand to
avoid smudges along your eyelids; same goes for the liquid eyeliner. The
struggle is real! Right now I’m using Maybelline’s Big Eyes Volum’Express
mascara. It’s got two different sized wands, so I use the bottom lash wand for
my mascara application.

3. GLUTTONY: What are your most delicious beauty products?
Coconut oil, honey and brown sugar! Not traditional
beauty products but I use them frequently in my DIY hair products and lip
scrubs. I’ll definitely have a few posts up on these.

4. SLOTH: What beauty products do you neglect, due to
laziness?
I don't know if sunscreen lotion is regarded a 'beauty product', but I often neglect to apply it and although I understand the purpose and importance of using it, I feel like I'm reluctant to apply it because I haven't found one that I really like. Most sunscreen lotions leave me looking and feeling shiny and sticky; I'm not a fan of the scent either. And I still don't understand how I'm supposed to reapply it every other hour if I'm beat like a supermodel, lol...but seriously are there affordable hydrating and mattifying finishing sprays in South Africa that contain SPF? Please let me know in the comments below.
5. PRIDE: What beauty product gives you the most self
confidence?
I feel most confident around people when I know that I smell
good and my teeth are brushed, lol, so soap and toothbrush/paste are daily
essentials, but an accessory beauty product would have to be any of my
brow-filling products. I naturally have thick, bushy brows but I love to fill
out the sparse areas and have the brows neatened. A good pair of brows goes a
long way!

6. LUST: What attributes do you find most attractive in the
opposite sex?
Physically, I love a man with attentive eyes, hydrated full
lips (dry lips don’t look good on anyone) and well-groomed hands. If we are
talking more on personality, I appreciate a man who can apply intellect and is
respectful, creative and confident.
7. ENVY: What item would you most like to receive as a gift?
Any beauty item that I can use for a long time, so MAC
eyeshadow palettes, designer perfumes (I would really love to try a Jo Malone
cologne too)…my list is pretty long so I’ll just stick to ‘any beauty item that
I can use for a long time’.
And that's it!
This was actually a fun tag to participate in and I'm
curious to find out what your vices are when it comes to 'beauty', so if you're
keen to participate, please go ahead and leave me a comment and link if you
publish the answers on your blog/ social media.
Thanks for reading,
V

You can try the Eucerin sunscreens, they have some pretty good formulations

Thanks Lungi! I recently bought one from Eucerin but I guess the SPF is a bit too high (50) so it leaves this purple tint. I actually want to try the Oil Control Dry Touch one- I've seen some good reviews about it.
