REVIEW| GARNIER MICELLAR OIL-INFUSED CLEANSING WATER & WIPES

Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Wipes

Garnier South Africa recently launched the oil-infused variant of their micellar cleansing water and wipes and when I saw them on sale at Dischem, I didn't even waste a second to pick them up!

I have been a fan of micellar cleansing waters since I first heard of them from UK bloggers and they have been my go-to makeup removal solution since they arrived in South Africa. I can't speak for other brands but Garnier has not disappointed me when it comes to the effectiveness of their micellar waters.  I have used both the combination skin and sensitive skin variants of Garnier's and even added the solution to my brush cleansing ROUTINE and so far, I don't have any complaints.

For those who aren't familiar with micellar water, let me explain quickly. Micellar water contains tiny unnoticeable 'micelles'  (or molecules) of oil that are formulated to bind to oils and dirt found on the skin's surface and dissolve them for effortless cleansing. It is popularly used for makeup removal due to its efficiency in quickly removing long-lasting waterproof makeup without stripping the skin of its natural moisture.

Now that that's covered let get into the review...

Garnier South Africa
The bi-phase cleansing solution is rich in Argan oil

On appearance it's clear to mark out the bi-phase cleansing solution which comprises a lightweight Argan oil-rich layer and a liquid layer that I presume is similar to the other Garnier micellar waters. To use the solution, you first have to shake it so that the two phases can mix and form a silky emulsion which you then apply to a cotton pad and use to remove makeup or else, just opt for the wipes which are incredibly soft and come already soaked with cleansing water.

Garnier South Africa
The cleansing water and wipes are designed for individuals with dry and sensitive skin
I've enjoyed using the oil-infused variants of the Garnier micellar water because they cleanse just as gently and efficiently as the original formula and as a bonus, they smell INCREDIBLE! When I want to remove a full face of makeup, it takes 2-3 soaked cotton pads or 1-2 wipes to get me bare faced. I do however prefer to wash my face after that, even though Garnier suggests 'no rinsing' is required - I prefer the squeaky clean feeling.  The mixture of Vitamin E-rich argan oil, Sweet Almond oil and French Rose extract gives the cleansing water a breezy, floral scent which I adore. For those who prefer fragrance-free facial products this variant will certainly be unsuitable as the scent does last a bit longer than the original formula. But it smells REALLY good...

Garnier oil-infused
The wipes have a both a smooth and textured side for cleansing

Since the cleansing water and wipes are designed to cater to people with dry and sensitive skin, the oil content does leaves a rather moisturised, yet non-greasy finish after use. Even if you don't have dry skin, this aspect of the oil-infusion is great as you can pack the wipes into your gym bag and use them to remove makeup before exercising (I prefer that anyway) and have your skin still feeling moisturised without having to reapply any facial creams.

The cleansing water currently retails for R69.00/400ml while the wipes are R35/25  per pack, at Dischem. I hope the travel-friendly 125ml version of the cleansing water will also be released as I find the 400ml to be too bulky for travel purposes.

If you are looking to try a different makeup removal solution or repurchase your micellar water, the Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water is definitely one worth trying. Comment below if you've bought it already - I'd love to know what you think about it.

Hope the review has been helpful!

Love,

V
