SWATCHES| NYX PRO LIP CREAM PALETTE in 'THE REDS'

Undoubtedly, red is one of the more significantly emotive hues of the colour spectrum. It commands attention without asking for it. It is sensual, it is sexy, it is 'in your face'. Lately, I have found myself quite drawn to the color, seduced if you may. I have been going through quite a stressful phase of my life and have really needed a 'pick me up' and somehow red found me.

My collection of red lipsticks is actually quite small - I have two MAC lipsticks including the infamous Ruby Woo and this NYX Pro Lip Cream Palette* aptly called 'The Reds'.

A great palette to have in your collection especially if you are a makeup artist

In my last POST, I did a mini review on the palette and promised to provide swatches in a follow up post, so I'm here to deliver on my promise. Although the palette is called 'The Reds' it is actually a selection of various shades of reds and oranges which are all surprisingly quite complimentary on dark skin - I am NW45 (MAC). As the name suggests, the palette is made up of cream lipsticks therefore the longevity of the lipsticks isn't as long-lasting as matte lipsticks, however the pigmentation is incredible and very buildable.  The individual shades unfortunately don't have unique names (they are just numbered 1 to 6), so I have matched the collage of the lip swatches to the order in which they appear in the palette for easy reference. I haven't worn a lip liner in all the swatches so that the true colour of the lipstick can be seen.

Swatches
(Top Left to Bottom Right)

Top Left (1): Peachy Orange (a brown/nude lip liner is recommended for everyday wear)
Top Right (2): Cherry Red (blue undertone, not as opaque as I would like but buildable)
Middle Left (3): Pink Red  (pink undertone, great for spring/summer)
Middle Right (4): Blood Orange/ Deep Orange (my favourite!, dupe for MAC Morange)
Bottom Left (5): Fire Engine Red (beautiful true red)
Bottom Right (6): Brown Red (perfect for the winter season)
I had fun shooting the pics for this post (drew inspiration from Dolce & Gabbana SS15 collection, such beauty!), so I hope you enjoyed it as well!

'Til next time,

V

PS: I'm thinking of having a 'swatches only' page on the blog/ Pinterest, reckon I should do it? If so comment below or on my Instagram/ Twitter!
